In this story, the first book in the Oz series, Dorothy comes to Oz. Her house lands on the Wicked Witch of the East. Although she is invited to stay in Oz, she wants to get home to Kansas. The munchkins advise her to go to the Wizard of Oz in the Emerald city and she sets off, accompanied by Toto. On her way, she helps many of thecharacters which later become prominent characters in Oz.
