The ship-wrecked Betsy, along with her friend, the mule Hank, are able to make it ahore in the Rose Kingdom. While they are being driven out, the Shaggy Man rops in through the roof. Using the Love Magnet, the Shaggy Man is able to get himself and Betsy and Hank out of the Rose Kingdom without incurring punishment. At the same time, Queen Ann Soforth has gathered an army to counquer the world. These two groups meet at an intersection and instantly become friends because of the Love Magnet. Shaggy's orginal quest was to rescue his brother from the Nome ing, and the combined group journeys on to the Nome King's palace.
